I was reading an article about Elle Macpherson yesterday and she was said the following... "Don't make a new year's resolution; find a new year's solution." What wise words from a woman who has a beautiful, healthy life and incredibly successful career as a model, mother, designer and entrepreneur. We start each new year making a list of our resolutions - what we will or won't do in 2016. And by today (January 7th) most people have already broken their resolutions and often feel bad about themselves for failing so quickly. Instead of making resolutions, let's find the solution. The right solution for you is something that will stick around after the first week and well after the 52nd week.

After I read that quote I immediately made this graphic above to post on my Pinterest account to pass on the motivation to my nearly 4,000 followers and beyond. It got me thinking about other inspiring words I've heard over the last year and so I gathered up all the graphics I created & posted to my Pinterest account to share with you here. I hope they motivate you, make you smile, spark some inspiration and help you to find solutions in 2016 that last well past today. Pin these wise words to your own Pinterest accounts and pass on the motivation. And yes, life definitely begins after coffee ;)

Happy new year! Or should I say "happy sweet '16"! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are ready to start the new year off on the right foot. Here are seven things to do right now to kick off 2016 and set yourself up for the best year ever:

  1. Say good bye to the holidays and put away all the decorations.
  2. Wash all your makeup brushes and toss out any that are past their prime.
  3. Do a quick closet re-organization and bag up any clothes for donation that you haven't worn in more than a year.
  4. Set your fitness goals for the year and then break down your goal dead lines into small increments of time (by month or week). Are you looking for a plan and lots of motivation to get fit in 2016? Check out my favourite trainers from Tone It Up... they are starting their next 8 week fitness challenge today - head on over to their website here to get all the details on how you can join for free!
  5. Throw out all the old holiday leftovers from your fridge and pantry. Then fill it up with lots of healthy options - fruits, veggies, almond milk, lean protein, greek yogurt, quinoa etc.
  6. Head over to Amazon and order yourself a new book to read in January. So many of our favourite shows don't start back up until the end of the month or early February and it's a perfect time to turn off the TV reruns and read a good book. I just started reading the best seller, The Girl on the Train. So far, so good!
  7. Chose a personal goal that you would like to accomplish in January. Maybe it's taking a new fitness class, saving for a big trip, reading a new book or drinking more water. At the end of each week check in with yourself and evaluate your progress. You will feel so great about yourself at the end of the month when you've accomplished what you set out to do. Then pick a new goal for February!
Ready? Let's go!

I heard this inspirational quote the other day and I immediately wanted to share it with you. It is such a simple statement but it is so true... If you want a rainbow you have to put up with the rain. Nothing truly worth having will ever come easy. We have to put in the work to achieve our goals and dreams. We are all used to hearing that old saying "good things come to those who wait". Well I don't believe that is true. Good things come to those who go after what they want, work hard and don't let anything stand in their way. It might be tough, it might be exhausting, we might fail. But at the end of the storm you'll find your  rainbow. Dolly Parton is definitely one smart lady!

I came across this quote the other day and it really spoke to me. I immediately typed it out to share with you here, because I think we can all benefit from this life philosophy. We all have plans for our lives and want to control the outcome. But of course, life doesn't always go as planned. That relationship that once made you happy and filled your heart love fails. That job opportunity that you thought was so perfect for you goes to someone else. When things go the opposite of what you really wanted or dreamed of remember this quote. Know that what is meant to be will be and that something or someone better for you will come along when the time is right. Elsa was right... just let it go! Stay positive and be open to accepting this... what is meant for you will always find you.

Thank you for reading,

A new year is here, raise your glass and cheer!
I'm sad to see the holidays end but I'm very happy that 2015 is here. I'm ready for a fresh start and a chance to create new goals for myself. Of course you don't need the calendar to read January 1st to make new goals and take stock in your life but I think we all find it a little more motivating. January 1st is the beginning of a clean slate... 365 days, 365 chances. Of course one of the goals on top of my list (I say goals and not resolutions because that word has a bit of a cliche connotation and majority of people "break" their resolutions) is to make fitness and healthy eating a more consistent part of my life. Isn't that on top of every one's list? I've put together my plan for the next 6 weeks and now I just have to execute it. I find if you make short term plan it feels less daunting and it is easier to achieve. Another goal is to turn off the mindless TV and read more. It's far too easy to watch another repeat of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and before you know it you've wasted that tiny bit of free time you have. And when I say "read more" I don't mean trashy novels that add no value to your life and are pretty much the same as watching mindless TV shows. There is a time and place for those type of fluff books (lying by the pool or on the beach or to wind down after a long day) and there is certainly nothing wrong with reading them. But our free time is so limited and I want to make the most of it - to enhance my life and spark my mind. I'd also like to add the weekend newspaper to my reading list and become a more educated and well spoken person. I know far too much about what is happening in celebrities lives and less about what is going on with the rest of the world. That needs to change in 2015. Tell me what are some of your new goals for 2015? And before you go click on the Flipagram photo above and watch all my fashionable photos from 2014!

Happy new year and thank you for all the love & support in 2014! I look forward to bringing you more fashion and lifestyle posts this year.

When I was asked what I wanted for Christmas this year I drew a blank. Because what I want isn't something you can buy in a store and wrap up with a bow. It's so much more important and long lasting than any physical gift. As you get older it's not the things that you want. It is no longer something tangible. For me it's love, happiness and health. And I wish the same to you this Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

Life is like a Ferris wheel... what goes up must come down. When you are feeling low just remember you will be on top again soon. Stay positive and enjoy the ride!
I adore fresh flowers. They add glamour and life to any room in your home. This is my motto. A beautiful bouquet is worth every penny.

Just a little reminder... we are all unique and we should embrace it; not destroy it. Be your own kind of beautiful everyday.
...and Annie's too. Happy Friday!

This one speaks for itself... embrace today, let go of the past and don't live in fear of the future.

If you follow social media you may have heard or seen the so-called 7 rules of life. It's a straight forward kick in the pants to owning your life and not over analyzing everything. I thought I would pretty it up a little and share it with you, but the message is still the same. Sometimes we just need a little reminder.
